Because the current runs consistently downstream, there's no fighting your way back upriver — you paddle with the flow the entire way, and staff handle the return trip for you. What the Trip Involves Staff at the launch provide basic paddling instruction before guests set out, and the park describes this stretch of river as manageable for beginners. The route winds past limestone banks and overhanging trees, through water fed by a first-magnitude spring — one of the highest-volume, highest-clarity spring systems in Florida. Life jackets are required on the water, and the same Springs Protection Zone rules that protect the spring itself apply along the route: no beaching, anchoring, or grounding kayaks, and no swimming, alcohol, or disposable containers on the water.
